It’s Friday in Marysville and both the sun and the Sun are out!
☀️Pushed to the Edge
Last week Governor Inslee celebrated that he had the foresight to secure 30,000 abortion pills for our state. This after a federal judge ruled against the FDA approval of mifepristone pills. Click here to watch him brag.

This is a good sign.
Since the Supreme Court struck down Roe last June, the estimate is that over 5,000 babies each month in the United States have not been killed. More states are working to protect more lives. Just yesterday Florida passed the Heartbeat Protection Act which bans abortions after six weeks. And while Christians shouldn't stop until laws protect life from conception, these are vital steps in the life direction.
Christians in WA might be tempted to envy saner pastures. Again, our governor brags about his ability to kill the most vulnerable among us. And while this is a true and real battle, it's also a sign of the dark’s desperation.
The Washington Legislature has been meeting late this session. If there ever was a time to say working “under the cover of darkness,” it might be now. They are passing ridiculous bills, legal hanky-panky, that maybe should be labeled manic-panic. For example, Senate Bill 5599 passed, a bill which turns WA into a “shelter” for those “seeking gender-affirming or reproductive care.” That is newspeak for welcoming those who want to run away to do permanent damage to their own bodies or kill their own kid. We’re on the edge geographically, and even further out morally.
Taken as a whole, death-dealers are being pushed to the edge. This map from U.S. News shows the spread of abortion restrictions.
In WA it appears that we are moving further into trouble, but that's because the front is being pushed back. The fighting is more visible where the enemy is most agitated. “There is no quick fix.” But there are signs of encouragement. So we will lament. We will sing imprecatory psalms (such as Psalm 94). And we will pray for courage and boldness to rescue those being taken away to death (Proverbs 24:11).
