As the Sun comes out for its fourth issue there has been no real pattern to the content. Some themes are starting to surface, and maybe they will grow up into “columns” in the future. For now they’ll at best be on a rotating basis rather than showing up every Friday. There was, in fact, a different plan for this week’s edition, but the following article is more timely here at the beginning of June.
☀️Time and Space against Pride Month
Rainbows are more than meteorological happenstances, they are a gift from God. Rainbows were not invented by men, but men can explain them, and exploit them. Whether rainbows are real things or only in the eye of the beholder, they have been ironically co-opted by LGBTQ+ persons in a very tangible and hard to ignore way, especially in the month of June.
There are many things to cover in the news. But when Google adds “First Day of LGBTQ+ Pride Month” to the US Holidays calendar for June 1st, and when many businesses turn their logos into rainbow versions for a whole month, it’s newsworthy. Here in Marysville the Starbucks near 88th Street has already hung Pride flags in their windows.
Again, while there are other things to report, this article by Carl Trueman, author of The Rise and Triumph of the Modern Self, changed our editorial schedule for this week.
As Trueman points out, “It is a basic fact of history that if you control time and space, you also control the culture.” He notes that many holidays get 24 hours, but attention on sexual preference and gender identity has somehow been privileged with 30 days. Actually, there are dozens of days throughout the year claimed by LGBTQ+ concerns. So here in the Sun we want to devote more space for light in the public square and give more time to what is true.
The Sun aims to be the source for all Marysville news and commentary regardless of age, gender, marital status, or ethnicity. It is written from a Christian position, but recognizes that there are other perspectives. We are neighbors and we must live with those we don’t always agree with. This does not make every perspective equal, even though every person is equal in bearing God’s image. In fact, as those created by God to bear His reflection, we must refuse all attempts to lie about Him through what we say and how we behave.
Homosexuals bear God’s image but they do so falsely. This applies to all the competing groups in the acronym: gays, lesbians, bi-sexuals, so-called transgendered persons, self-identified queers, and the “pluses.”
How can the Sun claim to serve those it disagrees with at such a foundational level? It will serve them at least by not lying to them. It would be patronizing, and truly damaging, to do so.
Boys and girls can be identified and distinguished while still in the womb without needing to be a biologist. A boy will grow up into a man; a man cannot have a period and we will never be a natural birthing person. A girl will mature into a woman, and her ability to get pregnant and give birth adds to her value; eggs and expensive, sperm is cheap. Marriage is the lifelong covenant between one man and one woman. The nuclear family, including involved fathers, keeps society from shooting itself.
Those who militantly lobby for and lead in this sexual immorality are not free, they are being given over to lies and lusts. This reality is described in the Bible not as a sign of human progress but as a sign of God’s judgment. Those who indulge in these sins are at varying degrees of enslavement, and they are not truly “supported” by teachers or curriculum or influences or after school clubs that perpetuate the lies.
It is somewhat surprising that the LGBTQ+ co-belligerents don’t see how patronizing and commercializing the company rainbow-branding is, as this article points out and this meme captures so well. It is also surprising how fanatic these persons can be about fruitlessness and how antagonistic they are to beauty. Look at the following image found in a social media post from the Brooklyn Nets. What is this?
It may not be possible to boycott every business that throws itself into the woke rapids, and boycotts have debatable effectiveness anyway. But it is responsible to ask what sort of society, what sort of city, what sort of culture we really want. It is more than about restoring traditional values; those values didn’t appear out of the clouds. It is about honoring Jesus Christ as Lord and doing so in public. Because He died and rose again He offers salvation to all those who repent from their sin and believe in Him, and He claims sovereignty over every second and inch and rainbow.

Right on the money. We can't have this kind of dishonest and abusive, predatory, PRIDE nonsense setting the tone in our town.
