Excitement level when the first Sun of December drops:
☀️Kids and Christmas
I love Christmas. I love kids, especially my kids and now also my kid’s kids (an eight-month old and another growing in the womb). I love how kids enjoy Christmas, and that reminds me that I love how many more resources there are to show that abortion is wicked.
The testimony in The Procedure is chilling. It’s hard to watch, and while animated to temper some of the shock, it’s still not a great advent activity for the youngest in your household. That just confirms the evil of it; abortion attacks defenseless kids.
The video was made by Choice42, and there are more resources at their website.
Willful killing of kids is part of the original Christmas story, even though it doesn’t dominant our front yard nativity scenes. Soon after Jesus was born to the virgin Mary, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem to worship the newborn king. The current king, Herod, heard the news and wanted the wise men to find the boy and report back about his location so that Herod could “worship” as well. Herod’s intention became clear after the wise men didn’t return, and Herod “sent and killed all the male children in Bethlehem and in all that region who were two years old or under” (Matthew 2:16). An angel of the Lord warned Jesus’ father, Joseph, to flee to Egypt, so Jesus Himself was safe. But the blood of many boys was spilled, fulfilling an Old Testament prophecy of “Rachel weeping for her children…because they are no more” (Jeremiah 31:15).
The Innkeeper is a powerful poem telling an imaginative, but realistic story of the innkeeper in Bethlehem who hosted Joseph and Mary. The author and reader is John Piper, and the poem can be read here. Watching this would be a great advent activity for the family.
Christmas is about the birth of a Child, and yet it’s hard to ignore that we live among many mini-Herods. One of our WA Senators continues to pledge her fight for all women to have the “right to get an abortion.” If you have a few moments, click the following tweet to see a thread of so many heartless comments.

This advent season, consider how you could support a ministry that truly supports women and children, such as Abort73 or the nearby Antioch Adoptions. And love your kids, receive them as gifts, and in all these things, receive the word of the angel to the shepherds: “I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:10–11). Merry Christmas!

See the Shelter’s website for more information on volunteering and/or contributing to their needs list. The Shelter is open each night when the temperature is forecasted to be below 34 degrees, and we’ve already had a lot of those so far this season. Follow their Facebook page for daily updates.
