Good morning, Marysville! It’s time to get going.
☀️ 🚨BREAKING NEWS🚨
Friends of the Sun, the Sun will be taking a break.
The minimum will be 12 weeks, maybe 15 weeks, possibly longer. We'll see. But yeah, I’m pausing the publishing.
The reasons why are not even that interesting. I’ve got a lot to do, and I am not getting some important things done. Something has to give.
I created this site not quite two years ago, though I'd been thinking about a project like this for a number of years before that. It seemed better to make something rather than leave it only (making me) mental. I still have ideas for things to try, I look for and save links for things to share, every day every week. And it's been good.
Of the feedback I've received, it's all been positive. The most "negative" responses have been a handful of people who unsubscribed, but there's been no backlash, directly or online (that I know about, ha). Another handful of you have been quite encouraging, not only reading but reaching out to me with kind comments. Thank you, for real.
But no one’s dependent on our investigative journalism OR our editorial insight. There are no paying customers to disappoint. Maybe in this presidential election year we’ll get another global lockdown, so I’ll keep a lamp on in the Sun’s office just in case.
There’s still a lot at stake in Marysville, and I still care about making Marysville a destination. Maybe there are ways the Sun can help again in the future.
☀️Around Town
Did you see this report from Fox News? Seattle is least-religious metro area in the US. That’s probably what makes Seattle so awesome….
☀️Coming Events
There are a few places to get info on what’s coming up in Marysville and, for as much as I detest Facebook, I’d still say that the City of Marysville’s FB page is probably the best source these days.
☀️Friday Fun
As you march forward without Friday Funs from the Sun, let this be a humorous exhortation to keep on keeping on.
The Marysville Sun provides news and perspective—with a little bit of fun—for Marysville's stakeholders about what's at stake.
