Good morning, Marysville! We made it to June! We made it to Friday! We’re having so much fun it’s almost like flying!
☀️Hey, June, Don’t Make It Bad
What a perfect month to be humble.
Two timely and national recognitions bring us to our knees, one in pain and one in praise.
We’re pained as we watch Romans 1 play out in front of us. It reminds me of George Walker’s response to Norman Dale in the movie “Hoosiers” when Dale tells Walker that his coaching days are over. George responds:
“Look, mister, there's... two kinds of dumb, a guy that gets naked and runs out in the snow and barks at the moon, and, a guy who does the same thing in my living room. First one don't matter, the second one you’re kinda forced to deal with.”
The bellicose push of “Pride” month has been very successful in radicalizing normies. Go to the store, watch a profesional sports game, scroll in whatever social media of choice, and its co-opted rainbows out the wazoo. I say “co-opted” because the (rain)bow is God’s sign of His covenant to Noah that He would never send a global flood to wipe out humankind again. It’s not because we aren't sinful, but because God shows great patience with all those who profess to be wise living like clowns.
Look at the following image. It’s almost as much of a self-own as choosing the rainbow for a symbol of depravity.
We are being humbled as a nation; it’s not just our president who keeps stumbling and falling. As a wise man once asked, “if the righteous is scarcely saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?”
And yet, those who understand the times are humbled to celebrate God’s kindness as He turned the hearts of most of our Supreme Court Justices last June to overturn Roe v. Wade in the Dobbs’ decision. While that ruling only sent the legislative powers back to each state government, and while WA state still lauds its right to kill image-bearers in their mother’s womb, many states in our nation have moved to restrict abortion and reports of abortion-mill closures are up. Some estimate that over sixty-thousand babies have not been aborted these past twelve months due to Dobbs.
Many pro-life Christians worked for four decades to see Roe overturned, and while we acknowledge the ongoing need to protect all life, we are humbled with thanks to the Lord for granting this good. Some people from our church plan to celebrate (what may become an annual thing) called “June Life Jubilee” by meeting at Comeford Park in Marysville on Friday, June 23rd, at 6:30pm. They will sing a few psalms/hymns, share some snacks, and hang out for sake of #lifemonth.
When we humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God, we trust Him to lift our heads at the proper time, even in June.
