It all goes by so quickly. But today’s forecast for Marysville calls for sunny skies and temps in the high seventies, and the Sun points the way to the weekend.
☀️GAGs and Guns
Many years ago I learned about the FOG: the Fellowship of Grievance. Misery loves company, and complainers create their own kind of community around shared criticisms. The human heart is bent toward dissatisfaction, and so pointing out problems is a way to muster your tribe; “Hey, you’re mad at that just like me!”
These “Fellowships” don't usually live that long. They die, not just because the reason for grievance passes, but because their fellow members become a new reason for grievance. They were never true allies, just co-belligerents, fighting something else until they started fighting each other.
That said, it is possible to share a grievance consistently and not have the grievance be the catalyst for fellowship. If we were having dinner together, and every bowl of soup came out from the kitchen with a fly or two in the bowl, that fact that we all got up and left the restaurant and wrote 0-star Yelp reviews doesn’t necessarily mean that we are haters to the core, it means we all know what kinds of protein belong in our soup.
So today I propose a new acronym, not as a rallying point, but as a reminder that there is something really better. This most recent session of the WA Legislature, followed by the signing of bills by Inslee, has increased our many GAGs: Grievances Against the Governor.
As I wrote a couple weeks ago, I do think this seasonal outburst of crazy is because the Party of Death is being pushed to the edge and grasping for paper straws of power. In that article I focused on how Inslee praised his foresight to secure a multiple-year supply of killing pills. Yesterday he really put the pompous in pomp, signing a number of abortion (and trans-affirming) bills outside the Hans Rosling Center for Population Health at the University of Washington. “Center for Population Health”? Really? His definition of “health” is as dishonest as his definition of “freedom.”
In a different ceremony on Tuesday the governor signed into law three bills about guns. House Bill 1240 bans the “manufacture, importation, distribution, sale, or offer for sale of any assault-style weapon” (source). House Bill 1143 “will require a 10-day waiting period before purchasing any firearms.” And Senate Bill 5078 aims “to add more liability for gun manufacturers and dealers.”
The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) has already filed a lawsuit against HB 1240 for violating federal constitutional rights. That's good; challenge the virtue-signaling in the courts. And also, let’s keep challenging the virtue-signaling by pointing out the lack of virtue in the signal, or at least the inconsistency. The governor said “No one needs an AR-15” and yet the governor’s own protection detail uses Armalite Rifles “The AR platform is the primary long gun armament of the State Patrol.”
Not only that, the governor’s party has so far refused to pass a drug possession law, making a de facto legalization of hard drugs in the state on July 1, leaving it up to cities to defend themselves. Marysville Mayor Jon Nehring spoke about this on Monday with Brandi Kruse, starting at the 16 minute mark in the following video.
This also after releasing convicted criminals from prison during covid lockdowns, limiting law enforcement officers from pursuing law-breakers, and abolishing the death penalty. So, Mr. Governor, don’t be surprised if we aren’t impressed with your version of virtue.
Our ruling class in WA loves our criminals more than they love our citizens, and the governor leads the way. We’ll be here in Marysville finding our people, not only because of shared grievances against the governor, but so we can protect, and arm, ourselves.
☀️Honk If You’re Happy

I was in my house and kept hearing honking and then more honking from the busy road. I looked out my window and saw all of the yellow school buses lined up to stop at the railroad tracks. I was curious and thought maybe my neighbor’s dog had run out into the street! But instead, I found a mom and her toddler standing by the tracks, waving to each bus. The little boy looked so happy when the buses were honking and waving to him! This interchange goes on every day when the buses leave the barn for their afternoon pick up.
I walked over today and met them. She lives in a nearby neighborhood and said her son, James is two years-old and just loves trucks and buses! So if the weather is fine, they walk over and greet the fleet. The look of delight on many bus drivers faces was obvious as they smiled and honked and waved back at James. It was just sweet to see someone doing a simple act that gave such joy to the buses and trucks that passed by.
☀️Community Champion Award

At the Marysville Business Summit on Tuesday, The Grove Church was honored with the Community Champion Award for its many impactful community service projects in Marysville, Tulalip and surrounding communities.
Last year volunteers from The Grove Church worked some 6,000 hours at a variety of sites and through all sorts of services. Outreach Lead Teresa Kerr and Executive Pastor Ryan Loffer accepted the award. Make sure to read the whole post, and we praise the Lord for blessing Marysville through The Grove Church!
