Happy Veterans Day!
The Sun shines a little differently today, but at least it came out.
☀️Heat and Light
Little did we know last Friday ago how many homes in Marysville and Snohomish County would be without power over the weekend, and even into this week.
Thank you to the PUD and City/County crews who worked—and are still working (around 500 outages as of this morning still to fix)—to get the lights turned on again. There would be no Sun today without them!
☀️Still Counting
This page shows the Snohomish County results from Tuesday’s election. And here is page for all of Washington State. Each county should certify their counts on November 29, and the Secretary of State certifies on December 8.
Voter turnout in our county was 48.45%. Though the outcome in many races what not what the Sun recommended, we knew there was going to be more work to do anyway.
☀️Marysville Adjacent
Next week’s issue of the Sun should have a report from the “Behind the News Stories” event held by The Herald last night at the Edmonds Center for the Arts. It was a celebration of local journalism, which we here at the Sun keep working to promote.
The August 19th issue of the Sun highlighted the new office opening of VanderBeken Remodel on 3rd Street in Marysville. They’ve recently shared a couple great lists for Marysville adjacent businesses, including five of the best coffee shops in Everett and the seven best restaurants in Snohomish County. The reviews/info/links make for some great recommendations.
The Marysville Police Department will be collecting coats and hoodies the next couple weekends.
